For a perennial romantic at heart, what can be a more appealing read than a love story Bollywood style by the Indian Mills & Boon Queen? To say that I was looking forward to reading Double Jeopardy by Sundari Venkatraman is an understatement. And it did not disappoint. An out-and-out romantic story of a girl caught between two guys, her childhood crush the serious, considerate and dependable Arth and the playful, prankster Ansh who keeps wooing her and vying for her attention.
We encourage you to buy books from a local bookstore. If that is not possible, please use the links on the page and support us. Thank you.
As Sanya tries to figure out what her heart desires the comfort and shelter of Arth or the passion and intrigue promised by Ansh, she also does a lot of “growing up”. Sundari has described very effectively the charters and their interrelationships. The character of Sanya begins as a spoilt brat and ends up as a responsible adult. The character development happens despite her being controlled by her heart’s desires.
Though I feel that the circumstances and the reasons of the choices that all these three characters make could have been described more, the suspense created by Sundari maintains the excitement till the end. Also, the interrelationship between these three main characters could have been explored more. Or maybe it is just me disappointed at the length of the book because I surely wanted more of Sanya, Arth and Ansh.
I easily could identify with the depth and growth in the development of Sanya. All in all an expected romance with and unexpected twist.
